Bronka port (multifunctional marine transshipment complex Bronka, MMTC Bronka) is located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland South of Kronstadt in the zone of the protective dam. The project for the development of railway approaches to the MMTC Bronka, developed by Lengiprotrans, was the first stage of infrastructure reconstruction on the Rybatskoe — Preportovaya — Ligovo — Bronka section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway.

The port is of strategic importance for the development of the transport and port infrastructure of St. Petersburg and Russia as a whole. The port is integrated into the logistics system of the St. Petersburg transport hub and is designed for handling container and roll-on cargo. It includes three specialized complexes: a container terminal, a roll-on cargo terminal, and a logistics center.

The main advantages of MMTC Bronka are that the port:

  • is deep-water — 14.4 m;
  • has a short approach channel — 13 miles;
  • is connected to the federal highway network, including a two-way road interchange connecting the port to the St. Petersburg ring road;
  • has a connection to the railway network;
  • located outside of urban development.

Administratively, the railway infrastructure reconstruction site is located in the Nevsky, Frunzensky, Moskovsky, Kirovsky, Krasnoselsky and Petrodvorets districts of the city of St. Petersburg, as well as in the Lomonosovsky District of the Leningrad Region.

The Company carried out pre-design studies, engineering surveys and part of the design work for the reconstruction of the Srednerogatskaya, Ligovo, and Bronka stations with the electrification of the Preportovaya — Ligovo stage and the strengthening of traction power supply at the container train pass section. When developing the project documentation, the options that take into account the existing railway infrastructure and available reserves were first considered.

In 2017, the development of project documentation for the first stage of the development of the Rybatskoe — Preportovaya — Ligovo — Bronka section of the Oktyabrskaya Railway was completed. The documentation is sent for approval to the Oktyabrskaya Railway — a branch of JSC Russian Railways.

In 2018, was planned to complete the development of the project layout and the project of land surveying and transfer the project documentation to the FAI Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.

Based on expert data, the prospective container cargo flow to the port of Bronka by rail will grow gradually and by 2030 will reach 18.0 million TEU per year.
