JSC Lengiprotrans since 2002 has been the general contractor for the design of the infrastructure development of the Ust-Luga railway hub.
Luzhskaya-Sortirovochnaya is the only innovative station in Russia with a fully automated hump. Both foreign and domestic developments have been introduced here, thanks to which the hill and the arrival park at the Luzhskaya-Sortirovochnaya station are served by a minimum number of employees, which has a significant impact on reducing operating costs. At present, about three thousand cars are dismantled on the marshalling hump on average per day.
A large volume of work (up to 5 thousand wagons per day) at the station is provided by an automated hump. The control system for breaking up trains MSR-32 for the hump was developed by the German company Siemens AG. Its uniqueness, first of all, lies in the fact that, unlike its European counterparts, this system has been largely adapted to the Russian operating conditions and is currently the only prototype.
This system provides fully automatic control of the hump devices: arrows and signals, retarders, hydraulic pump stations and pull-up devices. To control the retarders and arrows, the downhill part of the slide is equipped with a corresponding set of floor equipment, including radar speed indicators (radars), wheel gauges, weighing devices, and light grids.
On the hump of the hill, there are also installed systems for determining the windage of the car and a weather station, and the sorting tracks are equipped with track filling control devices, which ensure the safety and quality of breaking up and shunting movements.
Integration of MSR-32 with other systems
Thanks to the joint interface of the MSR-32 system, the Russian-made MALS system and on-board automation devices, as well as the control system of hump locomotives specially designed for this station, the entire hump cycle, including the ride of the hump locomotive under the train, thrusting and dismantling, is carried out completely in automatic mode.
To be able to adapt the imported system and ensure the linkage of its operation with other devices and systems, temporary design standards were developed and approved. Additionally, technical solutions for linkages were developed, as well as new design documentation for the elements of the superstructure of the track for the possibility of installing floor-standing devices from Siemens AG.
