The Volkhovstroy I station is located in the Volkhov district of the Leningrad region. It carries out technical inspection and formation of trains, change of locomotives of freight trains, maintenance of access roads and common areas. In terms of the volume and complexity of the work performed, it is classified as extracurricular. The Volkhovstroevsky railway junction provides transport and economic links of the Northwestern Federal District with almost all regions of Russia, as well as with Finland and Estonia.
For many years Lengiprotrans has participated in the modernization of the railway junction and the Volkhovstroy I station. In 2010-2012, the institute developed a project for the reconstruction of the station's reception park. The project was due to the increase in the processing capacity of the marshalling system of the station and the provision of the possibility of technological maintenance of trains with a useful length of 100 conventional wagons.
A significant proportion of freight traffic through the Volkhovstroyevsky railway junction is accounted for by foreign trade transportation. The growth in cargo turnover is mainly due to the passage of trains to the new port "Lavna" in the Kola Bay of the Murmansk region and an increase in foreign trade traffic of the port of Ust-Luga.
Design and survey work was carried out in conditions of constant train traffic.
During the work, the following results were achieved:
• Extension of all tracks of the Volkhovstroy-I station receiving park to a useful length of 1050 meters (5 tracks) and 1500 meters (3 tracks);
• Electrification and lighting of all extended tracks;
• Construction of new heating points for car inspectors and track fitters;
• Construction of a new office building for employees of the reception park;
• Reconstruction of the unfinished extension to the EC post;
• Construction of an administrative building with the placement of the DCS apparatus and premises of DC Volkhovstroy-I;
• Arrangement of a ring fire road in the reception park;
• improvement of the territory.
