Nesterov is a border station of the Kaliningrad railway located in the Kaliningrad region on the border with Lithuania.

After the collapse of the USSR, the railways were disconnected at the borders with the Baltic States, which required the establishment of new border crossings in a short time. The RF Ministry of Railways (RF Ministry of Railways) instructed Lengiprotrans to develop projects for the reconstruction of a number of border stations. According to the assignment of the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation dated June 10, 1998, the institute developed preliminary design solutions for the construction of an interstate transfer station on the Russian-Lithuanian border in the area of the Nesterov station.

The work considered 3 options:

  1. Construction of a new transfer station near the village of Chernyshevsky.
  2. Reconstruction of the Nesterov station with the construction of a border checkpoint near the village of Chernyshevsky.
  3. Reconstruction of the Nesterov station with the implementation of all operations for technical, commercial, border and other types of inspection and inspection of freight and passenger trains.

In 1999, a feasibility study was developed for two options and the option of building a transfer station Chernyshevskaya with the organization of all types of inspection and inspection on it was recommended. But further design of the facility was suspended due to lack of funds for design and survey work.
