Желенодорожный транспорт порта Латакия

For many years Lengiprotrans has been developing the railway network in the Syrian Arab Republic. The main task was to connect the seaports of Tartus and Latakia with the eastern regions of the country for the export of goods. Before the start of these works, Syria had only one railway.

In the 1970s, the Institute developed a project for the construction of railway transport in the port of Latakia on the Mediterranean coast.

The project provided for the following works:

  • reconstruction of the Port junction due to the junction of the access railway;
  • construction of a 3.48 km railway access track from the existing Port junction to the projected port area;
  • construction of a marshalling yard with lighting;
  • installation of signaling devices and railway communication.

Projected haul crossing Port - st. The marshalling yard was equipped with a semi-automatic blocking, and 13 crossings on this stretch were equipped with automatic traffic lights.
The route of the access railway track was designed taking into account the maximum preservation of the existing warehouses and structures of the port in conjunction with the master plan of the projected area of the port.
A special feature of road design in Syria was the track gauge of 1435 mm.
In 1976 - 1978 a complex of railway devices was built and put into operation.
