In the 1970s Lengiprotrans took part in the development of the external transport system of the Kostomuksha Mining and Processing Plant (GOK). One of the first projects was developed for the Ledmozero - Kostomuksha - State Border railway line. The road was intended to ensure the operation of the GOK and, in particular, the export of products (iron ore pellets) both in the direction of Russia and to the Finnish factories in the Oulu region.
The railway line is a dead end and adjoins the Ledmozero station of the Sukkozero - Yushkozero line of the Oktyabrskaya railway. At the other end, the road reaches the border with Finland.
Design and survey work was carried out in an uninhabited region of Western Karelia in the conditions of off-road, continuous forest, a large number of lakes and swamps. Construction began immediately after the project was approved in 1974.
Among other things, according to Lengiprotrans technical solutions, Finnish specialists built a section of railway and motor roads from the Kostomuksha station to the connection with the Finnish roads.
