The investment project “Murmansk — Petrozavodsk, construction of second railway tracks” is being implemented in accordance with the orders of the Russian Government on the development of railway infrastructure on the approaches to the ports of North-West Russia and the construction of the Lavna Sea Trade Port to ensure the passage of additional cargo traffic (18 million t) to existing and under construction ports located in the northern part of the Kola Peninsula.

The work carried out by Lengiprotrans JSC is mainly related to the elimination of single-track sections and the extension of station receiving and departure tracks to a useful length of 1050 m.

The project includes 30 objects: 19 stations, 10 stages with the laying of second main tracks, with a total length of 100 km, as well as a rest house for locomotive crews at Vykhodnoy station.

In 2022, the preparation of design documentation for all objects of the investment project was completed with the receipt of positive conclusions from the FAI Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.
