The department of factories of Lentransproekt (since 1951 - Lengiprotrans) developed a project of a track repair and mechanical plant of the Ministry of Railways (MPS) in Pushkin. It is organized on the basis of restored and reconstructed road repair shops located in the depot buildings.
The plant is designed to be able to manufacture and repair various machines used in the laying and repair of railway tracks. It was one of the three factories of the Ministry of Railways, which manufacture and repair railway ballasters, track layers, plows, snow plows, and repair trains. The plant was put into operation in 1950.
Later, a workshop for the assembly of concrete mixer trucks was built at the repair and mechanical plant, a significant part of the products of which was intended for export. Imported German equipment was used in the workshop design.
