The construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) can rightfully be called a significant achievement of transport construction at the end of the 20th century. The specialists of Lengiprotrans were engaged in the design of BAM sections in different periods: Komsomolsk - Sovetskaya Gavan in the 1940s, Chara - Tynda in 1967-1984.

The ring road around St. Petersburg (A118, KAD) is a federal highway passing through the territory of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The highway connects all the main highways going from the city center in the direction of Helsinki, Murmansk, Moscow, Kiev and Tallinn.

The construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) can rightfully be called a significant achievement of transport construction at the end of the 20th century. The specialists of Lengiprotrans were engaged in the design of BAM sections in different periods: Komsomolsk — Sovetskaya Gavan in the 1940s, Chara — Tynda in 1967–1984.

On December 30, 1988, the Council of Ministers of the USSR approved the program "High-speed environmentally friendly transport". The development of the project of the high-speed highway St. Petersburg - Moscow (VSM-1) with the active participation of Lengiprotrans became the top priority.

In 1989, the institute began research and a feasibility study (TEO). In the course of this, 5 options for the direction of the route were considered: Western, Eastern, Combined, Dalny, Novgorod. Reconnaissance surveys were carried out at the reference sites.

In 1997-2003, Lengiprotrans developed a project for the completion and reinforcement of sections of the Nadym - Pangody - Novy Urengoy - Korotchaevo railway line in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

The railway passes through the difficult natural and climatic conditions of the tundra and forest-tundra. The geotechnical conditions of the region, due to the presence of permafrost soils, are difficult. The security of sand and peat deposit construction for the construction and strengthening of the subgrade is uneven, but on the whole sufficient.

The bridge crossing over the Pinega River is designed on the Karpogory — Karpogory-Passenger section. It was built as part of the construction of the Mikun — Arkhangelsk railway line for the development of forests in the North-West of Russia.

The specialists of Lengiprotrans examined 2 places for the construction of the crossing and made up 3 options for each. As a result, a bridge was approved according to the scheme 34.2 + 89.1 + 2x111.1 + 89.1 + 34.2, with a total length of 481 m.

The bridge has two types of spans:

The Mikun - Ertom - Koslan section is part of the Mikun - Arkhangelsk railway line. The road was necessary for the development of huge forests and the development of the timber processing and pulp and paper industries in the Arkhangelsk region and the Komi Republic.

Until 1965, on the Mikun-Koslan line, surveys and design of timber railways were carried out according to lightweight standards. Later, Lengiprotrans proposed to build a line as an integral part of the country's railway network along the general direction Mikun - Arkhangelsk. At the same time, it solved the problem of timber transportation. The proposal was approved, and three lines were included in the subsequent work plan: Mikun - Ertom with a branch to Koslan, Ertom - Karpogory and Karpogory - Arkhangelsk.

The project will allow for switching the excess train traffic from the Babayevo — Volkhovstory — Mga line towards the ports of the Gulf of Finland over to the Mga — Sonkovo — Dmitrov line and for ensuring the required throughput capacity of these lines, and it can become a “backup” for this line if necessary.

For JSC Russian Railways, the Mga — Sonkovo — Dmitrov main line is one of the essential projects which links the country centre with the North-Western Region.
