The Kirov railway junction is located on the Gorkovskaya railway and is part of the Trans-Siberian Railway. Passenger and freight traffic of the boiler, Glazov and Kotlas directions passes through it.
The project for the power supply of the railway junction was prepared by Lentransproekt (since 1951 - Lengiprotrans) in 1940-1950. As part of it, the Lyangasovo junction railway station, located in the eponymous district of the city of Kirov, was electrified.
