Электрификация соединительных линий Санкт-Петербургского железнодорожного узла

In the early 2000s, Lengiprotrans developed a project for the electrification of intra-nodal connecting lines of the St. Petersburg railway junction in order to ensure the passage of routes to the port of St. Petersburg on electric traction, bypassing the St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Moskovsky station.

Based on the results of the project, the following works were completed:
- electrified on direct current sections: Predportovaya - Narvskaya - Novy Port (7.5 km), Navalochnaya - Volkovskaya - Tsvetochnaya - Novy Port (11.4 km);
- the receiving and departure tracks of the Novy Port station were extended to a useful length of 1050 m with electrification (the length of the newly laid tracks is 7.7 km);
- the tracks of the Predportovaya station were lengthened to a useful length of 1500 m with electrification;
- a new connecting track Predportovaya - Avtovo (4 km) was built. To free the construction site, 150 private garages and a road bridge across the Krasnenkaya River were demolished and built on the new site.
