The Tuapse - Adler railway line is part of the North Caucasus Railway. This is a narrow strip, bounded on the left by the Caucasus Mountains and on the right by the Black Sea. The key problem on the route is rockfall from the upland side and wave action from the sea.
In 1940-1941 and in the post-war period "Lentransproekt" (since 1951 - "Lengiprotrans") carried out anti-deformation measures at the site. The designers proposed protecting the path from rockfall by covering and trapping retaining walls. And from the sea side, depending on the configuration of the coast and the direction of the wind, a complex of coastal protection measures was developed: breakwalls, groins, concrete massifs, bottom breakwaters, half-dams.
