Conversion of the railway section Magnitogorsk — Tobol to diesel traction

Перевод железнодорожного участка Магнитогорск — Тобол на тепловозную тягу

Railway line Magnitogorsk — Tobol — a section of the line Magnitogorsk — Tobol — Zhelezorudnaya — Astana, providing transport links between Kazakhstan and the Urals and the Volga region of Russia.

In the 1950s–1970s, the USSR made a massive transfer of train traffic to diesel traction, in the design of which Lengiprotrans took an active part. Leading in this direction was the Factories Department (now as part of the OPGS). During this period, the Magnitogorsk — Tobol railway section was transferred to diesel traction. Simultaneously with this institute, the electrification of the railway was developed.
