Velikie Luki steam locomotive repair plant

Великолукский паровозовагоноремонтный завод

The Velikie Luki Steam Locomotive Car Repair Plant (PVRZ) is an enterprise for the repair of various freight cars for the needs of railway transport. Its history begins with the arrival of the Moscow-Vindavskaya railway in Velikiye Luki in 1901, when the Main Railway Workshops for the repair of locomotives and carriages were created. In 1927, on the basis of workshops, the Velikie Luki steam locomotive repair plant was created.

During the Great Patriotic War, the enterprise was evacuated to the Orenburg PVRZ. In 1943, during the Velikie Luki offensive operation, the plant building and rolling stock were badly damaged. Immediately after the war, Lentransproekt (since 1951 - Lengiprotrans) developed a project to restore the plant.

In the 1970s, the enterprise was renamed into Velikie Luki Locomotive Car Repair Plant.
