Since the 1960s, Lengiprotrans has been actively involved in the development of the railway network in the Syrian Arab Republic. The main task was to connect the seaports of Tartus and Latakia with the eastern regions of the country for the export of goods. Before the start of these works, Syria had only one railway.
A number of railway projects have been developed in Syria. Later, in the 1980s, Lengiprotrans designed a diesel locomotive maintenance workshop with locomotive depot workshops at the Homs-II station.
