The Daugavpils Steam Locomotive Car Repair Plant (PVRZ) was founded in 1866 as the Dvina main railway workshops of the Petersburg-Warsaw and Riga-Orlov railways. The company specializes in the repair of diesel locomotives and electric trains of various series.
In the 1940s, Lengiprotrans developed a project for the restoration of the Daugavpils PVRZ, which was destroyed during the Great Patriotic War.
During this period, the main elements of each plant project were:
• technological part;
• building part;
• plumbing: heating, ventilation, water supply and sewerage;
• energy part: power supply, heat supply and compressed air;
• communication;
• internal and external transport;
• general plan;
• improvement of the territory of the plant.
Later, the institute, together with specialists from the Baltic Railway, developed and approved a scheme for traction service of trains with diesel locomotives. Taking into account this scheme, a diesel locomotive depot in Daugavpils was designed in 1950-1970.
