Organization of high-speed passenger traffic
In the late 1980s, the introduction of high-speed traffic into the railway network began in Russia. The high-speed highway St. Petersburg - Moscow (VSM-1) became the top priority, the project of which was developed by Lengiprotrans already in 1989-1994.
A double-track overpass for 23–26 km of the highway was developed according to an individual scheme. Supports and spans are designed taking into account the specifics of their work in conditions of high-speed traffic. The length of the overpass is 3425 m, including the length of the overpass section of 225 m at the intersection of the St. Petersburg - Moscow highway. The overpass with a length of 973 m is located on a curve with a radius of 7000 m in the plan.
