Last week, Oleg Belozerov, General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways, held a videoconference meeting, which was attended by representatives of the design organizations JSC Roszheldorproekt, JSC Lengiprotrans and JSC Mosgiprotrans. The meeting participants discussed the options for the location in Moscow and St. Petersburg of the terminal passenger terminals, where trains will arrive on the future high-speed railway line (HSRL) between the capitals, as well as the question of where the HSRL route will pass within the boundaries of the metropolitan cities.

The high-speed highway promises to deliver passengers from one capital to another in just two and a half hours — an hour faster than Sapsans do today. This is expected to be possible in 2026.
According to Sergey Ivanov, Deputy Chief Engineer of JSC Lengiprotrans, in April two options for the location of the terminal in the Northern capital were considered. One — on the site of the so-called Kokorev warehouses, i.e. on a part of the site bounded by the Pertsov House, Ligovsky Prospect, the mouth of the platform park of the Moscow Railway Station and Transportny Lane. The second one is located in the platform park of the Moskovsky railway station, on the site of the current routes of arrival and departure of suburban trains.
At the meeting on July 9, was approved the first option. It is assumed that several buildings of the former warehouses after reconstruction will be used as passenger and service buildings of the terminal. The location of the high-speed railway depot was also approved — at the south of the Obukhovo park of the St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Moskovsky station. It has already been determined that the HSRL terminal in Moscow will be located next to the Leningradsky railway station.
On the rest of the issues, decisions are to be made at the next meetings.
