In the pre-war years, the engineers of Lentransproekt (since 1951 - Lengiprotrans) worked in Azerbaijan. According to their project, a single-track railway line was built on a steam locomotive with a baton method of communication on the Azerbaijan railway on the Alaty - Salyan - Astara section with the adjoining sections of Salyan - Neftechala (35 km) and Kazi - Bayramli (15 km).

In the early 1980s, Lengiprotrans developed a project for a bridge over the Kura River on the Osmaly-Ali-Bayramli (now Shirvan) section of the Azerbaijan Railway.

The Kura is the largest river in Transcaucasia, originating in the Armenian Highlands and flowing into the Caspian Sea. It flows through the territory of three countries: Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan.

Shortly before the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Lenzheldorproekt (in 1955 became part of Lengiprotrans) began designing the Kirovabad (now Ganja) - Dashkesan railway line on the territory of the Azerbaijan SSR. The road was supposed to connect the Dashkesan deposit with the Transcaucasian railway for the export of iron ore to the metallurgical plant under construction in Rustavi (near Tbilisi).
