The Bologoye - Riga railway line is the main direction of the meridional route associated with the delivery of goods to the seaport of the city of Riga.
In the period 1951-1955, Lengiprotrans developed a project for the second tracks on the site. More than 260 km out of 619 km of the route passed through the territory of Latvia.
