In 2013, Lengiprotrans provided engineering and consulting services for adjusting the feasibility study (FS) for the construction of a high-speed railway line (HSR) Astana - Almaty in Kazakhstan.
The feasibility study institute's adjustment mainly consisted of working out technical solutions for a maximum speed of 250 km / h. The specified parameters are more precisely defined: travel time - 5.5 hours, the number of trains - 6 pairs of trains per day, a single-track railway station with double-track inserts.
In the presented work, the following technical and design solutions are considered:
• organization of train traffic;
• construction of track superstructure and subgrade;
• artificial structures;
• railway stations;
• contact network;
• power supply;
• railway automation and telemechanics;
• railway telecommunications;
• organization of maintenance and repair of rolling stock;
• buildings and engineering structures, master plan;
• integrated security measures;
• measures for fire safety, civil defense and emergency situations;
• considerations on the construction schedule.
The work carried out provides for technical solutions that make it possible to switch from a speed mode of 250 km / h to 350 km / h, without significant financial costs. This applies to the construction of the subgrade, the superstructure of the track (VSP), contact network, signaling and communication. The VSP device is considered in two types: ballast and ballastless design. At this stage, a ballast rail track was adopted.
