Kanashsky Carriage Repair Plant (VRZ) is an enterprise for the production and repair of cars for railway transport. The project of the Kanash shipyard was developed by the specialists of Lentranszavodproekt, which in 1936 became part of Lentransproekt (since 1951 - Lengiprotrans), where work on the object was continued.
In accordance with the typical project, the following works were carried out:
• Repair of bogies was moved to an independent workshop.
• The spans of the assembly shop were equipped with overhead cranes.
• Repair of parts and assembly of units were moved to an independent workshop.
• The factories were equipped with powerful procurement and auxiliary workshops.
The plant's productivity was 6,000 overhauls of four-axle freight cars per year. During the development of the project, the experience of the leading factories of the Soviet Union and the best factories of foreign countries was used. Already at that time, the repair of wagons was provided only on the stream.
