Project of a new marshalling yard of the Murmansk railway node

JSC Lengiprotrans (part of the 1520 Group of Companies) has started engineering surveys and pre-design studies for the construction of a new Shongui marshalling yard in the Murmansk railway node. Currently, the design assignment is receiving the necessary approvals by the management of Russian Railways.

The basis for the development of the design work was the instruction of the General Director – Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Russian Railways O.V. Belozerov on the preparation of proposals for the development of railway infrastructure on the approaches to the Murmansk transport hub to ensure a phased increase in the volume of railway traffic up to 100 million tons per year in communication with the port of Murmansk (including the Murmansk station — 27 million tons per year and new port facilities at the Western the coast of the Kola Bay — 73 million tons per year).

The institute specialists presented several possible options for the location of the new marshalling yard. During the work of the visiting commission with the participation of JSC Lengiprotrans, representatives of the central office of JSC Russian Railways, the Oktyabrskaya Railway, JSC Institute for Economics and Transport Development the was chosen the lot near the existing Shongui station.
