JSC Lengiprotrans (part of the 1520 Group of Companies) in March 2020 received a positive conclusion from FAI Glavgosexpertiza on the first stage of the "Murmansk — Petrozavodsk, construction of second public railways. Extension of receiving and departure tracks at the Apatity station of the Oktyabrskaya railway" project.
Apatity is the largest freight station on the Murmansk direction of the Oktyabrskaya railway, which consists of 4 parks. Its main purpose is maintenance of a mining and processing complex for the production of apatite concentrate for the production of fertilizers.
The first stage of the project includes lengthening the tracks in the receiving park to a length of 1050 m, which will allow organizing the arrival of trains consisting of 71 cars. The implementation of the project is scheduled for 2020–2021. At the second stage, it is planned to extend the tracks in the receiving and dispatching yard.
The project was supervised by Sergey Vladimirovich Kulkov, chief project engineer.
