The bridge across the Chumysh River is designed on the Meret — Srednesibirskaya railway line. The new route was supposed to remove from the Trans-Siberian Railway the transportation of coal from the Kuzbass and the Kansk-Achinsky deposit, as well as complete the formation of the Central Siberian railway.

The length of the structure is 233 m. The bank protection of the river was designed by means of a system of regulating, jet deflectors. Here, too, new designs of pipe filters were used instead of the device of layer-by-layer dumped drains. By changing the bridge schemes and reducing the number of shells in intermediate supports, agreed with the expertise of the Ministry of Railways, a significant cost reduction was achieved.

Since 1984, the construction of the Meret — Srednesibirskaya line began. However, it was mothballed at the final stage for economic reasons. In the late 1990s, the Altai — Kuzbass highway was built on the Meret — Srednesibirskaya highway.
